Summer Tutoring
Do you want your child to feel confident and ready for school without turning summer into an argument? Tutoring at Playful Pathways is a one-on-one summer support program that helps kids grow academically in a setting that feels more like play than school. Your child will work with a teacher in a warm play rich environment where learning is personalized and built around who they are, what they love, and what they need. Sessions are designed to be engaging and low pressure so your child can practice important skills while still feeling like a kid on summer break.
This program is designed for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade who would benefit from extra support in:
- Early literacy, reading fluency, and comprehension
- Writing, spelling, phonics, and language development
- Math skills, number sense, and problem solving
It is especially helpful if you want tutoring that feels relational and playful rather than strict or high pressure or if your child is reluctant to do worksheets, or shuts down when they feel behind.

Meet Jen, your child’s summer tutor
Jennifer Haslam is a certified elementary teacher who currently teaches fifth grade and has experience teaching second and third grade. She earned her masters degree in Educational Leadership and is working toward becoming a school administrator, so she understands both the day-to-day classroom experience and the bigger picture of how kids grow over time.
Jen is passionate about creating a safe, supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. She meets each student where they are and offers engaging, individualized instruction to help them build skills and confidence. Families describe her as calm, playful, and highly prepared, and she is excited to come alongside you this summer to support your child.

The Process
Before sessions begin, parents will have an initial phone call with Jen where they can share about their child's needs and discuss realistic goals for the summer. Jen will then create a simple individualized learning plan with two or three main goals, a brief description of your child's strengths and struggles, and a weekly focus outline so you know what will be practiced. Each week your child will attend one 50 to 55 minute session at Playful Pathways. Sessions may include direct teaching, hands on games, movement activities, toy based learning, and creative practice.
